Transport Ministry to get $5.3 million grant to improve roads in Batken region

The Ministry of Transport of Kyrgyzstan will receive a $5.3 million grant to improve roads in Batken region. Akunaly Dosaliev, Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications, announced a meeting of the parliamentary committee on budget, economic and fiscal policy.

The deputies considered a draft of exchange notes between the Cabinet of Ministers and the Government of Japan and a draft grant agreement between the Cabinet of Ministers and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) on the project «Improvement of equipment for the maintenance of roads and pavement in Batken region.»

«The grant is provided for the improvement of roads in Batken region. The issue of receiving $5.3 million is being decided. Under the grant agreement, 53 pieces of equipment will be purchased. The project also includes an asphalt concrete plant, a crusher. All conditions will be created to maintain the constructed roads,» Akunaly Dosaliev said.

He added that the purchased equipment would be on the balance of Kyrgyzavtozhol state enterprise.

The deputies supported the agreement.
