President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Kyrgyzstan Temir Sariev met with representatives of major construction companies in the country.
As the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Kyrgyz Republic informed 24.kg news agency, the parties discussed issues that arise in the construction industry and touched upon the problem of the quality of construction of residential buildings.
«The earthquake in Turkey shocked the entire world community. This tragic event made us think about how and what materials are used in the construction of residential buildings in Kyrgyzstan. We must consider this issue very carefully and comply with the norms. At the same time, we want to create a platform for the construction business and solve all problems together. The construction business is one of the flagships in the business sector, and today its share has reached 17 percent of GDP. This is a very good indicator, but there is still room to grow, and for this it is necessary to remove barriers jointly within the framework of the legislation,» Temir Sariev said.
Representatives of construction companies hope that the Chamber of Commerce and Industry will become a bridge between the state and business.
The head of one of them, Cholponbek Akmatov, admitted existence of a lot of unresolved issues in this area, they need to be addressed in a timely manner.
«Unfortunately, in order to solve problems, it is necessary to amend the law on architecture and construction, as well as the Urban Planning Code, there is also a need to adopt a new law on renovation. Representatives of the construction business need to participate in major international exhibitions to keep abreast of global trends, organize similar forums in Kyrgyzstan,» he said.
According to Cholponbek Akmatov, the republic buys many building materials, except for cement and brick, in Russia, and in order to reduce the final price, manufacturers can be invited to the republic to exhibitions so that builders can work directly with them and negotiate bulk purchases.
As a result of the meeting, it was decided to create a Construction Committee at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
