Zhenish Razakov’s case: Ex-Deputy Prime Minister pleads not guilty

Former deputy prime minister of Kyrgyzstan Zhenish Razakov, accused of fraud, pleaded not guilty. His lawyer Aibek Omurov told 24.kg news agency.

According to him, Zhenish Razakov himself is a victim. In 2017, he was approached by Mirlan Beketaev who asked for $1 million for doing a business. Razakov re-borrowed this money from another person.

«Mirlan Beketaev said that he needed the money only to credit it to a bank account. He allegedly wanted to show them to investors, and then withdraw and return. As a result, Mirlan Beketaev disappeared. My client filed a statement to the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Pervomaisky district of the capital in March 2022. A criminal case has been initiated against Beketaev, Razakov was recognized as a victim, and the man was put on the wanted list. It turned out that part of this $1 million belonged to Arzybek Burkhanov. Zhenish Razakov met with him, explained the situation, showed the materials of the criminal case. Burkhanov also filed a statement to the police. This criminal case is not related to politics. Zhenish Razakov has nothing to do with Burkhanov himself, the money was taken from another person,» Aibek Omurov said.

Zhenish Razakov is suspected of fraud. He was detained and then placed in the remand center 1 in Bishkek. According to investigators, the former deputy prime minister gained trust of the ex-deputy of Parliament Arzybek Burkhanov, and then, using his official position, under the guise of doing business, took $1 million from him and did not give it back.
