A working meeting was held between the First Deputy Chairman — Director of the Border Service of the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan, Major General Ularbek Sharsheev and the First Deputy Chairman — Commander of the Border Troops of the State Committee for National Security of Tajikistan, Colonel General Rajabali Rahmonali in Borborduk village, Leilek district of Batken region. Press service of the Border Service of the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan provided details of the meeting.
During the meeting, the heads of border agencies considered the implementation of previously signed protocols to stabilize the situation in the border areas of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Tajikistan. They discussed the situation on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border and noted the directions for the development of bilateral border cooperation.
The parties were unanimous in their opinion that strengthening security and confidence, maintaining stability on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border has been an important contribution to maintaining peace and stability in the Central Asian region.
During the meeting, the achieved positive results of joint activities in resolving border issues were noted.
As a result of the negotiations, the following decisions were made:
- To continue the work of the joint working commission in 2023;
- To raise the issue of speeding up work on the return of property of citizens of the two republics;
- To prevent actions that provoke an aggravation of relations between the parties on the state border.
The negotiations were also attended by the Presidential Envoy of Kyrgyzstan to Batken region Abdikarim Alimbaev and the Chairman of Sughd region of Tajikistan Rajabboy Ahmadzoda.
