The Ministry of Labor, Social Security and Migration of Kyrgyzstan submitted for public discussion a draft resolution on increasing maternity allowance.
The document says that the average amount of payments does not correspond to the subsistence level of the able-bodied population, which, according to the results of the third quarter of 2022, is 8,100 soms.
Taking into account the rapid growth of prices for goods and services, in order to provide social support for women working in the plains during pregnancy and childbirth, the draft law provides for an increase in the amount of maternity allowance from the 11th working day to 2,000 soms per month from April 1, 2023.
It is planned to increase the amount of temporary disability benefits from the 11th working day to 10,000 soms per month.
The drafters note that according to the regulation on the procedure for payment of temporary disability benefits, money is paid from the employer’s own funds.
The term for consideration of applications for daily payment of lump-sum maternity allowance and burial allowance is also reduced.
