Incidence of ARVI and influenza grows 1.5 times in Kyrgyzstan

The incidence of acute respiratory viral infections (ARVI) and influenza has increased 1.5 times in Kyrgyzstan. The Department of Disease Prevention, State Sanitary and Epidemiological Surveillance reported.

The department conducts weekly monitoring. In the 49th week of 2022 (from December 5 to December 11), 13,993 cases of acute respiratory viral infections and 85 cases of influenza were registered in the republic.

Of all cases, 68.7 percent are in children under 14.

Sentinel surveillance for severe acute respiratory infections and influenza-like illness continues in Bishkek, Osh, and Tokmok. According to WHO recommendations, patients are examined for influenza. Since October, a total of 914 samples have been studied. Among the positive ones, swine flu made up 39.3 percent, influenza B — 42.8 percent.

To date, about 62,000 people from risk groups have been vaccinated against influenza free of charge with Grippol Plus vaccine purchased by the Ministry of Health. Other 22,400 people from risk groups were vaccinated with GCFLU vaccine, received through UNICEF. These are people with chronic diseases, sickly children, children living in orphanages, boarding schools, pregnant women, medical workers.
