SCNS reveals corruption in enrollment of applicants in KRSU

A corruption scheme was revealed in the Ministry of Education and Science for enrolling applicants in the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University (KRSU). Press center of the State Committee for National Security (SCNS) reported.

Employees of the ministry and KRSU for several years illegally enrolled students in state-funded places, bypassing the current selection and enrollment rules.

«According to the intergovernmental agreement between Kyrgyzstan and Russia, annually 50 students from among the citizens of the Russian Federation are enrolled in the KRSU, whose education was financed from the state budget of the Kyrgyz Republic. However, officials of the Ministry of Education and KRSU for money enrolled applicants from among the citizens of Kyrgyzstan with low Nationwide Testing scores in these places. The former head of the Department of Higher, Secondary and Postgraduate Education of the ministry and the executive secretary of the admissions committee of the KRSU were detained and placed in the temporary detention center,» the SCNS said.
