The forum is organized by the joint efforts of the Ministry of Health, the Nurses Professional Association and the Swiss project «Medical Education Reforms in the Kyrgyz Republic».

The forum is attended by 250 participants, including decision makers, government officials, development partners, international experts, national and regional professional nursing associations, the midwife alliance, medical colleges, nurse practitioners and educators of the nursing education system.

Participants will discuss upcoming reforms and global changes in nursing and midwifery practice, as well as discuss a new model of nursing education adapted to people’s needs and international requirements.

Since 2013, the Government of Switzerland has been funding the project «Medical Education Reforms in Kyrgyzstan» with the technical support of the Geneva University Hospitals in cooperation with the local implementation partner Initiatives in Medical Education NGO.

In September 2022, a Swiss project, in cooperation with the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Education and Science, launched a new program for the training of nurses at Bishkek, Uzgen, Tokmak and Naryn medical colleges. This pilot program promotes a practice-oriented approach: 50 percent of all teaching hours are devoted to practice with full student involvement in clinical settings.
