Kyrgyzstan proposes to impose ban on deployment of heavy weaponry near borders

Secretary of the Security Council of Kyrgyzstan, Marat Imankulov, took part in the 10th anniversary meeting of the Secretaries of the Security Councils of the CIS member states. Press service of the head of state reported.

Marat Imankulov touched upon the issues of current challenges and threats and noted that they do not disappear, they are mutating, becoming multidirectional, fleeting and more dangerous. Any state can instantly become a target or an instrument of a geopolitical game, having received blows from various directions.

«A single country is not able to cope with the whole complex of threats on its own. International security should not depend on someone’s aggressive ambitions. An effective rebuff to all attempts at destabilization is required. Therefore, a common integrated work of all the countries of the Commonwealth and the world community is needed to build interaction and cooperation, as well as to find compromises in the interests of stability and peace on the path to development,» Marat Imankulov said.

In addition, it was proposed in the CIS format to increase the exchange of operational information between the competent structures.

Marat Imankulov also suggested informing each other about the quantitative and qualitative composition of the units of the Armed Forces stationed in the border areas in order to strengthen mutual trust and increase responsibility for ensuring stability. He also spoke in favor of imposing restrictions on the presence of heavy weaponry, tanks, artillery, multiple launch rocket systems near the borders, if this has nothing to do with the external borders of the CIS.
