Another batch of food products from Russia arrives in Kyrgyzstan

Another batch of food products donated by Russia under the World Food Programme (WFP) arrived in Kyrgyzstan. Press service of the programme reported.

According to it, about 1,950 tons of food (1,890 tons of fortified flour and 60.7 tons of vegetable oil) were delivered to the WFP warehouses in Bishkek and Osh. Approximately 12,600 families will get the food products to improve their food security as a reward for participating in WFP-supported projects across the country. Target vulnerable families will receive 150 kilograms of fortified wheat flour and 15 liters of vegetable oil.

«Projects include rehabilitation of irrigation networks and drinking water supply systems; planting trees and strengthening riverbanks to reduce risks; construction of rural bridges and drainage systems; capacity building training for livelihood development and advanced agricultural practices,» the programme noted.

At least 3,495 tons of food provided by Russia was already distributed in 2022 to support vulnerable families across the country, including internally displaced people in Batken after border clashes in mid-September.
