Kok-boru and kokparu teams will represent Kyrgyzstan at the IV World Nomad Games, which will be held at the end of September in Iznik, Turkey. Acting Secretary General of the International Kok-Boru Federation Kuvvatbek Askarbekov told 24.kg news agency.
He noted that he met in Bishkek with the Director of the Center for National and Equestrian Sports of the Committee for Sports and Physical Culture of the Ministry of Culture and Sports of Kazakhstan Bakdaulet Sabitov.
«At the meeting, we agreed to hold games in two types at once — kok-boru and kokparu. The Turkish side welcomes the decision. As part of the IV World Nomad Games, we would like to hold the World Kok-Boru Championship. We need national teams of six countries. We, Kazakhs, Turks, Uzbeks, Afghans, Americans, Altaians, Mongols can participate. But not all of them have horses. Therefore, we are resolving the issue of their delivery for other teams. The Speaker of the Parliament and the President help us in this,» Kuvvatbek Askarbekov said.
He noted that the horses of the teams will be transported to Turkey on one plane from Kyrgyzstan.
In February 2020, at a meeting of the International Ethnosport Forum in Turkey, it was decided to hold the games according to the rules of the Kazakh kokparu, that is, without tai-kazans (conditional gates where the carcass of a goat is thrown).
The Kyrgyz side insisted that the competitions should be held according to the rules of kok-boru, based on a memorandum between the State Sports Agency of Kyrgyzstan and the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Turkey on holding kok-boru (according to the Kyrgyz rules).
