Ural expects increase in supply of agricultural products from Kyrgyzstan

Representatives of the authorities of the Middle Ural and the Minister of Economy and Commerce of Kyrgyzstan discussed the opportunities for expansion of economic cooperation. The Governor of Sverdlovsk Oblast Yevgeny Kuyvashev, the authorized representative of the Russian President in the Ural Federal District Vladimir Yakushev and Daniyar Amangeldiev held negotiations.

The meeting took place within the framework of the IX Russian-Kyrgyz Conference.

According to Vladimir Yakushev, interaction of the Ural Federal District with Kyrgyzstan is growing. It became especially obvious after the Kyrgyz Republic joined the EAEU. The fact is confirmed by the mutual trade turnover, which increased by 50 percent during the year and exceeded the pre-crisis figures.

Vladimir Putin’s envoy to the Urals believes that investment cooperation, science, and education should be priorities. Yevgeny Kuyvashev also named promising areas for cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Sverdlovsk Oblast.

«Throughout history, a friendly dialogue has been maintained between Sverdlovsk Oblast and Kyrgyzstan. Our industrial complex is ready to expand the volume and range of supplies to the republic, we, in turn, are interested in increasing imports of high-quality agricultural products. Growth of tourist flows may be an important impetus for development of bilateral ties. We are waiting for the delegation from the Kyrgyz Republic at INNOPROM, where we will continue the dialogue on all issues,» he said.

Daniyar Amangeldiev replied that the country was interested in further development of contracts with Russia, in particular with Ural.

«The current situation in the world gives great opportunities for the development of cooperation, which was well demonstrated by the last INNOPROM exhibition in Tashkent, in which our companies participated. We are interested in continuing cooperation in metallurgy, education, culture and joint development of mineral deposits. Kyrgyzstan has always been and will remain a reliable partner of the Russian Federation», he said.

The trade turnover of the Ural Federal District of Russia with Kyrgyzstan exceeded $262 million last year; the turnover of Sverdlovsk Oblast reached $110 million.
