Every fourth household in Kyrgyzstan has at least one labor migrant. The Minister of Labor, Social Security and Migration Kudaibergen Bazarbaev said at the forum «Migration and Development: Prospects and New Opportunities.»
According to his data, there are over 181 million labor migrants in the world. They account for more than 60 percent of the total flow.
«Migration affects the fate of 3 million people in Kyrgyzstan — these are labor migrants, their children and families. Every fourth family in Kyrgyzstan has at least one migrant worker. The main age of migrants is from 18 to 45 years old,» Kudaibergen Bazarbaev said.
The official noted that one of the trends of recent years is a growth in the number of women in external migration, their number is much higher than the number of men. The number of female migrants is from 43 to 48 percent of the total number.
