The Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic took part in the meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the Commonwealth of Independent States.
«Priority and relevant is the adoption of systemic long-term measures for the comprehensive development of all key sectors of the economy, stepping up joint actions to ensure food security, developing transport and logistics, energy, trade and investment interconnectedness within the Commonwealth,» Akylbek Japarov said.
He noted the need to use the agricultural potential of the CIS countries and urgently provide farmers with seeds, fuel and lubricants and other resources for field work, especially against the backdrop of rising food prices.
«Kyrgyzstan stands for building up the transport and transit potential of the CIS countries. Development of the railway transport infrastructure on the territory of the CIS states will contribute to the trade and economic development of the entire Commonwealth space,» he added.
The official proposed the formation of cross-border tourism, where tourism support institutions could develop joint travel packages within the Commonwealth that would bring nations even closer.
Akylbek Japarov touched upon issues related to energy security in the CIS countries.
«The important energy projects in Kyrgyzstan include the construction of Kambarata hydroelectric power station, as well as small hydropower plants and dozens of new stations based on renewable energy sources. I invite investors from the Commonwealth countries to participate in the implementation of energy projects in Kyrgyzstan,» he said.
The head of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic also noted the importance of intensifying cooperation in the field of labor migration, emphasizing that solution of the problem of coordinated regulation of labor migration is to provide migrant workers with equal rights with the population of the host country when hiring and terminating labor agreements, as well as with social and medical support.
As a result of the meeting, documents were adopted, including an agreement on the exchange of biological material. It is designed for cooperation and mutual assistance of the competent authorities of the CIS member states in the exchange of biological material, improvement of laboratory diagnostics of especially dangerous animal diseases and prevention of the spread of infectious animal diseases in the territories of the Commonwealth countries.
The meeting participants also approved a set of joint actions to ensure the biological safety of genetic material in the reproduction of farm animals for the period up to 2026, a plan of priority measures for the implementation of the Information Security Strategy for the period up to 2030.
