Official visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary Peter Szijjarto ended in Bishkek. Press service of the Foreign Affairs Ministry reported.
The day before, Peter Szijjarto met with the President Sadyr Japarov, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeenbek Kulubaev, Minister of Economy and Commerce Daniyar Amangeldiev. As part of the visit of Peter Szijjarto to the Kyrgyz Republic, the second meeting of the Kyrgyz-Hungarian Strategic Council was held on issues of bilateral political, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation.
In accordance with the agenda of the meeting of the Strategic Council, the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic and Hungary discussed topical issues of bilateral cooperation, in particular, issues of organizing mutual high-level visits in 2022 and further strengthening inter-parliamentary ties.
The parties agreed to open a direct flight Budapest — Bishkek — Budapest by the Hungarian airline Wizz Air in the near future.
Launch of direct flights Budapest — Bishkek — Budapest is very important for the Kyrgyz Republic in terms of further development of investment and tourism potential.
The work of the Hungarian-Kyrgyz Development Fund, implementation of projects within the framework of the fund was discussed; an agreement was reached to gradually increase the authorized capital of the fund to $50 million as investment projects are successfully implemented. Issues related to the activities of the Kyrgyz-Hungarian Business Council were discussed. The Hungarian side was invited to hold a regular meeting of the Kyrgyz-Hungarian Business Council in Bishkek this year.
During the meeting of the Strategic Council, the parties discussed issues of further cooperation in the field of education. The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Kulubaev expressed his gratitude to Peter Szijjarto for increasing the quota for education of Kyrgyz students in higher educational institutions in Hungary to 200 places annually under Stipendium Hungaricum program.
Issues of cultural and humanitarian cooperation between the Kyrgyz Republic and Hungary were also discussed at the meeting. In particular, the parties considered holding of the Days of Culture of Kyrgyzstan in Hungary and Hungary in Kyrgyzstan.
A separate topic of discussion was cooperation within the framework of the Organization of Turkic States, as well as in Visegrad Group — Central Asia format.
As a result of the negotiations, the following documents were signed:
- Roadmap for bilateral cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary for 2022-2025;
- Memorandum between the Ministry of Culture, Information, Sports and Youth Policy of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Ministry of Human Resources of Hungary on cooperation in the field of culture.
