The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan proposes to grant the status of compatriot to foreigners who are natives of Kyrgyzstan, but changed their citizenship. The corresponding draft resolution was submitted for public discussion.
The status also implies issuance of Meken-Card — a document of state significance confirming the status of a compatriot with foreign citizenship and his or her rights.
According to the approved order, acceptance and issuance of documents is carried out through the state body in the sphere of population registration, diplomatic missions and consular offices of the Kyrgyz Republic. They are uploaded to the automated information system Meken-Card and sent for approval to the authorized bodies of internal affairs and national security and the Department of External Migration under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Further, a special commission will consider them.
