U.S. threatens countries staying neutral with global isolation

Countries that maintain their ties with Russia after its invasion of Ukraine and neutrality in the conflict risk facing isolation from the global economy. U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said. The Wall Street Journal reported.

In particular, the U.S. urged China not to weaken sanctions and not to provide assistance to Russia, as well as India to take a tougher stance on Russia. Janet Yellen noted that those countries that take a neutral stance will not be ignored.

According to her, the strategy of countries that want to win something by maintaining their relations with Russia is short-sighted.

«Let’s be clear. A united coalition of sanctioning countries will not be indifferent to actions that undermine them,» she stressed.

As a reminder, the Kyrgyz authorities earlier said that the republic takes a neutral position with regard to the events in Ukraine.

Situation in Ukraine remains complicated. Fighting continues. Russia announced a special military operation on February 24, 2022. The number of military and civilian casualties continues to grow. Many states have imposed and continue to impose severe sanctions against Russia. According to the latest UN data, more than 4.5 million citizens have left Ukraine.
