Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Edil Baisalov during his working visit to Geneva held an online meeting with the UN Deputy Secretary-General Amina Mohammed via video conferencing.
According to the press service of the Government, Amina Mohammed congratulated the Kyrgyz people on the conclusion of a settlement agreement with the Canadian Centerra Gold Inc.
She called it a huge success and believes that the step made will help accelerate on the path to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
Edil Baisalov told her about the implementation of national development programs and the main foreign policy initiatives of the Kyrgyz Republic, in particular the International Year of Sustainable Mountain Development, announced by the President of the country.
The parties also exchanged views on the main current issues on the UN agenda and outlined the next steps for joint cooperation.
On April 4, the head of state Sadyr Japarov announced signing of an agreement between the Cabinet of Ministers and the Canadian company Centerra Gold, resolving disagreements over the management of Kumtor Gold Company CJSC.
