The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan proposes to expand the notion of «compatriot abroad».
The ministry noted that only those Kyrgyzstanis who stay abroad permanently and legally are considered as «compatriots». Those who are outside the Kyrgyz Republic temporarily are not taken into account.
Kyrgyzstanis living abroad have the right to participate in the work of non-profit organizations at the national and international levels. The Kyrgyz Republic should ensure their civil, political, social, economic, cultural and other rights and freedoms, including legitimate interests in the state of residence, in accordance with the generally recognized principles and norms of international law.
Therefore, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs initiates amendments to the relevant law regulating the stay of citizens of Kyrgyzstan abroad.
