Water level in Toktogul reservoir drops to 8 billion cubic meters

As of March 7, 2022, the water level in Toktogul reservoir dropped to 8,033.45 billion cubic meters. Electric Stations OJSC reported.

Since the beginning of the year, the figure has decreased by 2,077.95 billion cubic meters, and by 1,307.7 billion cubic meters compared to March 7, 2021. Last year, the Toktogul reservoir had 9.3 billion cubic meters of water on that date.

To date, the water flow in the reservoir is 348 cubic meters per second, and the inflow is 147 cubic meters per second.

This year, Kyrgyzstan faced an energy crisis due to a low water period. Power industry specialists fear that only 6-7 billion cubic meters of water could remain in the reservoir after the heating season. Some experts believe that this could lead to the shutdown of Toktogul HPP.
