«In just seven days we have witnessed the exodus of one million refugees from Ukraine to neighbouring countries,» the UN High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi wrote on Twitter.
«For many millions more, inside Ukraine, it’s time for guns to fall silent, so that life-saving humanitarian assistance can be provided,» he posted.
Today is the eighth day of fighting in Ukraine. On February 24, 2022, the Russian President Vladimir Putin announced start of a special military operation. It was regarded in Ukraine and in the West as a full-scale invasion.
Second round of Russian-Ukrainian talks is expected today.
