«Disconnection of a number of Russian banks from the SWIFT payment system will not lead to freezing of payments by citizens of Kyrgyzstan,» Aida Karabaeva, official representative of the National Bank of Kyrgyzstan, said at a briefing today.
According to her, most of the country’s commercial banks are connected to SWIFT through the National Bank or directly. Therefore, the National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic believes that the impact of disconnection of Russia from the system on Kyrgyzstan will be minimal.
«Payment systems, both national and international, operate as before. The degree of influence of external risks is minimal. The system remains stable, banks are operating normally, including payments through both national and international systems. Our banks have entered into correspondent relations with banks of the EAEU, the CIS and far abroad countries, which allows us to make payments outside of Kyrgyzstan without interruption. The National Bank monitors the situation in foreign markets and in the economies of the trading partners and is ready to take measures to ensure stability both in the foreign exchange market and in the economy of the Kyrgyz Republic,» Aida Karabaeva concluded.
