The Russian delegation voted against the draft resolution on Ukraine that calls on Moscow to immediately stop the use of force and immediately and unconditionally withdraw troops from the Ukrainian territory. RIA Novosti reports.
The document deplores the «aggression» and reaffirms the commitment to sovereignty, independence, unity and territorial integrity of Ukraine within its internationally recognized borders.
At least 11 delegations voted for the resolution, three countries — China, India and the United Arab Emirates — abstained, and the Russian Federation opposed it, using its veto right.
Introducing the draft resolution, the Permanent Representative of Albania, which is one of the main sponsors of the document, said that the UN Charter «was burned on the ruins of Kyiv and other cities of Ukraine» and «was stained with the blood of innocent people.»
