It is planned to increase the amount of funding to 5 billion soms for the development of Batken region. The Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Akylbek Japarov said at a visiting meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers.
According to him, last year the authorities held an economic investment forum. They also plan to invite investors from all over the world and hold another forum in 2022.
«This year we are investing 1.5 billion soms in the development of infrastructure (irrigation canals, social facilities and roads) in Batken region under the capital investments item. It is necessary to build canals to provide the population with water for drinking and irrigation,» the head of the Cabinet said.
He noted the need to increase the level of exports from Batken region. The head of the Cabinet believes that thousands of new jobs will be created in the region thanks to new enterprises.
«At the same time, the export potential will increase. Growth of exports is a direct path to the development of the region. There are good opportunities for the import of cotton fabrics from Uzbekistan and development of Batken garment industry. It is necessary to develop local enterprises so that the inhabitants of the region could work here without leaving the country to work,» Akylbek Japarov concluded.
