Criminal case on corruption was initiated against the officials of the Tax Service, the national labelling operator of alcohol and tobacco products Alfa Telecom CJSC and the individual producers of alcoholic beverages. The press service of the Prosecutor General’s Office of Kyrgyzstan reported.
«The Investigation Department has revealed that individuals organized illegal production of excise stamps for alcoholic products in large quantities using high quality modern equipment in Chui region and Bishkek.
During a search of the house and workplace of one of the suspects, 468 marking codes (QR codes), 8,000 excise stamps of alcoholic beverages of dubious quality, as well as items and tools for ripping and changing them, a copying machine Konica and other tools were found,» the statement says.
The Investigation Department of the Prosecutor General’s Office detained the suspect and placed him in the temporary detention facility of the Main Department of Internal Affairs. The Tax Service and Alfa Telecom (MegaCom trademark), which is the technical operator of the national labelling system, launched a project on mandatory labelling of tobacco and alcohol products by digital identification means in Kyrgyzstan on July 1 last year.
