Head of pharmaceutical company detained in Bishkek

Head of one of pharmaceutical companies was detained in Bishkek. Press center of the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan (SCNS) reported.

The security services received information about illegal activities of a pharmaceutical company, which imports medicines with expired shelf life into the country. Subsequently, the expiration dates on the packages of medicines were illegally changed, and they were supplied to healthcare institutions and pharmacy networks of the republic.

«A criminal case has been initiated. Searches were conducted in the offices and warehouses of the company. Financial documentation and medicines were seized; the illegal activities of the company were confirmed. Physical evidence was seized, as well as expired medicines. Appropriate expertise has been scheduled to establish signs of falsification of expiration dates on packages of medicines. The company uses illegal methods of trade and unfair competition in its activities, lobbying the imported drugs through the healthcare system and pharmacies for money and bonuses for doctors and pharmacists. The firm imports an extensive list of medicines used to treat children’s diseases, which multiplies the risk of harm to health,» the SCNS said.

It is noted that Pervomaisky District Court of the capital detained the head of the pharmaceutical company. The exact amount of damage caused to the state and the circle of people involved in this crime are being established. Their actions will be legally assessed based on the results of investigation.
