Russia seeks to open training centers for migrants in CIS countries

Moscow is pushing for opening of centers for organized training of migrant workers in the countries from which most of them go to Russia. TASS reported, citing the Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

«Now we insist (on opening of such centers) in the countries that provide the bulk of migrant workers, it is Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan. We negotiate with them on opening of training centers for migrant workers,» he said.

According to the minister, such centers could teach migrants the Russian language and knowledge of Russian legislation.

Sergei Lavrov noted that the situation with migrants, particularly when it comes to incidents involving them, causes an emotional reaction in society. He noted that the Interior Ministry pays very serious attention to this problem.

«It is clear that these processes cause mixed reactions in society. We see how various incidents involving migrant workers from our neighboring republics are also taken emotionally,» the report says.
