The Ministry of Agriculture of Kyrgyzstan has initiated two bills concerning the transfer of pastures of the country into another category. The head of the ministry Askarbek Dzhanybekov told at a briefing.
According to him, one of them is on transformation of unproductive pastures.
«It has already been considered in the first reading by the Parliament, it was done by deputies of the last convocation. We have put it up for consideration in the second reading by the current MPs. It is planned to transfer about 500,000 hectares of unproductive pastures to another category of land so that our farmers can get additional land for agricultural production,» the official said.
There are 1,268 million hectares of arable land in Kyrgyzstan. There are plans to add another 500,000 to them. «Our land will increase. Every Kyrgyzstani living in rural areas already has the opportunity to start a business,» Askarbek Dzhanybekov concluded.
