Crime rate among migrants in Russia increased by 5.9 percent over the year. RIA Novosti reported.
According to the media, the Ministry of Internal Affairs recorded an increase in crimes committed by migrants in 2021: it was nearly 6 percent, although a year earlier the figure was declining.
«Foreign nationals and stateless persons committed 36,400 crimes on the territory of Russia, which is 5.9 percent more than in January — December 2020,» the statement says.
The vast majority of crimes, 78.3 percent, were committed by the natives of CIS countries (28,500). At the same time, the methodology of calculation has been changed in the statistics for 2021: the natives of Ukraine are not included in the category of criminals from the CIS countries.
It is noted that in 2020 foreigners have committed 34,400 crimes in Russia — 1.5 percent less than in 2019.
Earlier it was reported that almost 400 migrants were banned from entering the Russian Federation in Moscow for 40 years because of participation in fights.
