South Korea allowed entry of migrant workers from Kyrgyzstan. Press service of the Ministry of Labour, Social Security and Migration of Kyrgyzstan reported.
According to it, the minister Kudaibergen Bazarbaev met on Monday with participants of the organized recruitment program for employment in the Republic of Korea. He noted that work permits are issued on an ongoing basis, migrant workers are sent and received on the basis of labor contracts within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the State Migration Service under the government and the Ministry of Employment and Labor of the Republic of Korea.
«Citizens of Kyrgyzstan are sent to Korea by the Center for Employment of Citizens Abroad under the Ministry of Labour, Social Security and Migration. Due to restrictions related to COVID-19, sending of Kyrgyzstanis to Korea was suspended by the Korean side in March 2020. From December 29, 2021, the country allowed entry of Kyrgyzstanis under labor contracts,» he said.
Kudaibergen Bazarbaev added that the Ministry of Labor had reached an agreement on organizing a charter Bishkek — Seoul flight. «To date, 11 people have already started working under labor contracts, 104 more people are waiting for departure after fulfilling sanitary and epidemiological requirements,» he said.
According to the ministry, 3,500 people have been employed in the Republic of Korea over the past 15 years, most of them — in the light industry and electrical engineering. Currently, the acceptance of documents from those wishing to take part in testing to determine the level of knowledge of the Korean language continues.
