COVID-19 surge: Interval for getting booster dose of vaccine shortened

The interval for getting booster dose of COVID-19 vaccine has been shortened. This decision was made by the Ministry of Health of Kyrgyzstan due to the worsening epidemiological situation, the ministry said.

According to it, now Kyrgyzstanis can get a booster dose four months after the full course of vaccination. Previously, this interval was six months.

«The booster dose of the vaccine was introduced on December 20, 2021. The epidemiological situation has worsened after the New Year holidays. In this regard, we urge citizens who are over 60 years old, as well as healthcare, education and social workers to get a booster dose,» Gulbara Ishenapysova, director of the Center for Immunoprophylaxis of the Ministry of Health, said.

A high increase in COVID-19 incidence has been registered in Kyrgyzstan over the past 12 days, which indicates the beginning of the fourth wave. According to the risk assessment matrix, the Kyrgyz Republic is in the yellow zone and Bishkek is in the red one.

The Minister of Health Alymkadyr Beishenaliev said that the Omicron strain has been registered in Kyrgyzstan.
