Vladimir Putin: Maidan technologies were used in Kazakhstan

«Threat to Kazakhstan was caused not by spontaneous protests, but by those who took up arms,» the Russian President Vladimir Putin said today at an extraordinary session of the CSTO.

According to him, it was necessary to react without delay, and therefore the appeal of the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev was supported by all the heads of the CSTO states. The decision was made in a matter of hours in order to prevent the undermining of state power. «In Kazakhstan, we observe the aggression of international terrorism, the militants underwent training in conflict zones. We understand that the threat to Kazakhstan’s statehood was caused not by spontaneous protests over fuel prices, but by the fact that destructive internal and external forces took advantage of the situation. Those people who protested against the situation on the gas market are some people, they have the same goals, and those who took up arms and attacked the state are completely different people and have different goals. At the same time, the elements of information support of protests inherent in Maidan technologies were actively used,» Vladimir Putin said.

The events in Kazakhstan are not the first and not the last attempt to intervene from outside. We will not allow introduction of color revolution scenarios.

At his request, the CSTO countries sent peacekeeping forces to Kazakhstan. Scorpion special unit was sent to the republic from Kyrgyzstan.
