50 citizens of Kyrgyzstan expelled from Tajikistan

At least 50 citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic were expelled from Tajikistan to Kyrgyzstan. The Border Service of the State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic (SCNS) reported.

According to the state service, the Tajik side did not explain their actions. Some 47 Kyrgyzstanis crossed the border from Tajikistan to Kyrgyzstan through Karamyk-Avtodorozhny checkpoint on January 2. They are the natives of Zhergetal district of the Republic of Tajikistan. Their family members have Tajik citizenship and live in the neighboring state.

«On January 4, three more Kyrgyz citizens were expelled from the territory of Tajikistan. Citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic legally stayed on the territory of Lakhsh (Zhergetal), Murghab and Gorno-Badakhshan districts of the Republic of Tajikistan and were temporarily registered at their place of residence. However, on January 2-4, the Tajik authorities expelled 50 Kyrgyzstanis within 24 hours without explaining the reasons and not allowing them to say goodbye to their relatives,» the Border Service reported.

The state service clarified that the citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic returned to their homeland through Karamyk-Avtodorozhny and Bordobo-Avtodorozhny checkpoints.
