Health Minister of Kyrgyzstan Alymkadyr Beishenaliev told 24.kg news agency about the difference between the new Omicron coronavirus strain and SARS-CoV-2.
According to him, the new type of virus is dangerous because it spreads very quickly and massively.
«Let’s say there are 20 people. If one of them had coronavirus, then it was transmitted to two or three more people upon contact. As for Оmicron, the disease is transmitted to everyone instantly. Infection is fast. Secondly, since this is a new type of coronavirus, the symptoms are still being studied. Preliminary studies show they are almost the same as of COVID-19, and the treatment is similar. The only thing, we are afraid that due to the rapid infection we will get mass infection within three to four days, and the health workers will not have time to help,» Alymkadyr Beishenaliev said.
At the same time, he stressed that the emergence of Оmicron is expected in the country, however, no restrictions will be introduced to prevent its emergence or spread.
