The Kara-Suu District Court sentenced a woman in absentia to 12 years in prison, having found her guilty of selling heroin. Lawyer Nazgul Suyunbaeva told 24.kg news agency.
According to her, the verdict was passed back in 2009. All this time, the accused was hiding from law enforcement officers. In January 2021, she came to the police station.
«The woman is accused of sale of heroin; she does not admit her guilt. She is the single mother and has four small children. Article 92 of the Criminal Code states: if a person has committed a serious crime, and then more than 10 years have passed since the entry into force of the sentence and it has not been executed, the convicted person is released from serving the sentence. That is, the woman should have been released, I filed a petition. However, the court did not uphold it,» Nazgul Suyunbaeva said.
