Osh — Tazalyk municipal enterprise has received 12 new garbage trucks. Press service of the City Hall of the southern capital reported.
The special equipment was purchased under the project of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), its total cost is €545,000.
EBRD has launched a project in Osh to improve solid waste management. The total cost is €10 million: 50 percent is allocated in the form of a loan, the rest is a grant.
«The project also envisages construction of a landfill, modernization of infrastructure and reconstruction of waste collection points. In total, €1.9 million are provided for the purchase of special equipment for garbage removal from the EBRD project, 12 garbage trucks were purchased for €545,000 of the sum,» the statement says.
«There is a lack of special equipment for full cleaning of the city, so we are striving for updating the technical base. Last year, 30 million soms have been allocated from the local budget for these purposes, for which 14 units of special equipment have been purchased. The special equipment of city’s Tazalyk will be completely updated,» Mayor of the city Taalaibek Sarybashov told.
The City Hall also stressed that it expects to receive 4 more vehicles and 1,136 containers.
