Death toll from coronavirus exceeds 200,000 globally

As of today, the number of people who died after being infected with coronavirus is 202,880 people. Data of an online map developed by scientists say.

During the day, the number of deaths grew by 6,960.

At least 26,384 people died in Italy, 22,902 — in Spain, and 22,614 — in France.

In general, the number of people infected with novel coronavirus has reached 2,897,645 globally.

For a day, the figure grew by 106,659 people. The highest number of the infected is in the United States (939,053), Spain (223,759), Italy (195,351), Germany (156,513), France (161,644) and the UK (149,569).

Coronavirus cases have been reported in 185 countries.

As of today, the number of people who recovered from coronavirus is close to 800,000 people. During the day, the figure grew by 35,652 people.

At least 682 cases of coronavirus have been registered in Kyrgyzstan, 2,601 cases — in Kazakhstan, 1,862 — in Uzbekistan, in Russia — 74,588. All these states have closed their borders to prevent spread of the virus.

The World Health Organization has announced the global outbreak of coronavirus a pandemic.

The new type of coronavirus 2019-nCoV was discovered in late December in the Chinese Wuhan city. The source of infection were animals that were sold on the local market.
