Foreign Ministry expresses protest over beating of Kyrgyzstanis in Khabarovsk

Minister-Counsellor at the Russian Embassy was called to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan in connection with the facts of beating citizens of Kyrgyzstan in Khabarovsk. Press service of the Foreign Ministry reported.

During the meeting, the Kyrgyz side expressed a strong protest. The Foreign Ministry is convinced that the actions of law enforcement agencies were unlawful, and were expressed in the excess of official authority in form of use of physical force, accompanied by swearing.

«The Kyrgyz side called for a comprehensive and objective consideration of the incident and taking of strict measures against the perpetrators, who abused their power,» the Foreign Ministry said.

The representative of the Russian Embassy in Kyrgyzstan stated that the situation was unacceptable and said that a criminal case had been opened on the fact and an investigation was underway. The Russian diplomat assured that the issue was taken under their personal control and, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic would be additionally informed as soon as information is received from the competent authorities of the Russian Federation.
