Interior Ministry refutes political persecution of Farid Niyazov

Political persecution of Farid Niyazov by the Interior Ministry of Kyrgyzstan is out of question. The press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kyrgyzstan says.

The ministry assured that the proceedings on the appeal and statement of Maksat Chegirtkeev will be objective.

«In an interview, Maksat Chegirtkeev told that Farid Niyazov, taking advantage of his official position, had appropriated money intended for treatment of the disabled person. He applied to the Investigative Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. According to the Criminal Procedure Code, the bodies conducting pre-trial proceedings are obliged to accept, register and consider a statement or report on any crime that has been committed or is being prepared. Refusal to accept and register an application for a crime is not allowed and entails liability established by law. Officers of the investigative service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs conduct investigative and operational activities. The circumstances indicated in the statement of Maksat Chegirtkeev are being checked,» the Interior Ministry commented.

The former head of the Presidential Administration of Kyrgyzstan, Farid Niyazov, stated that the criminal case against him was politically motivated. The former official explained that he had data on which Maksat Chegirtkeev was forced to write the statement. The latter indicated in the statement that Farid Niyazov had deprived him of money in the amount of, presumably, 200,000 soms, which he had been allocated for treatment by the decision of the State Commission for Social Support of the victims of the April 2010 events.

Maksat Chegirtkeev asks to bring to justice the Chairman of the State Commission for the Coordination of Social Support of relatives of the killed and injured on April 6-7, 2010 Farid Niyazov and its other members.
