The UN Human Rights Committee accepted a statement from the director of Adilet Legal Clinic, Cholpon Dzhakupova, and the founder of Zanoza.kg website, Naryn Aiyp, regarding the judicial decisions taken in 2017 in favor of the ex-president of Kyrgyzstan Almazbek Atambayev. Adilet Legal Clinic informed 24.kg news agency.
According to the organization, in early spring, Cholpon Dzhakupova and Naryn Aiyp sent a statement to the UN Committee. An application from the second founder of Zanoza.kg Dina Maslova was received by the UN Committee in August 2018.
They complained about non-compliance with the norms and principles of law admitted by the courts, and asked for an assessment and recommendations to the government of the Kyrgyz Republic.
Findings of the UN Committee will be sent not to Almazbek Atambayev, but the state: the UN structure will give a legal assessment of the work of the judicial system in Kyrgyzstan and how it treats the rights of citizens. In case of revealing and confirming of violations of human rights, the state will have to compensate the applicants for moral and material damage.
Recall, then the Prosecutor General Indira Dzholdubaeva filed five lawsuits against the website Zanoza.kg on the protection of honor and dignity of the President Almazbek Atambayev. She demanded payment of 27 million soms from the media outlet and journalists Naryn Aiyp and Dina Maslova as a moral compensation.
The former president of Kyrgyzstan Almazbek Atambayev withdrew his claims on protection of his honor and dignity to the founders of Zanoza.kg — Naryn Aiyp, Dina Maslova and the head of Adilet Legal Clinic Cholpon Dzhakupova.
