More than 500 people convicted for extremism and terrorism in Kyrgyzstan

More than 500 people have been convicted for extremism and terrorism in Kyrgyzstan. The Chairman of the State Penitentiary Service, Taalaibek Zhaparov, told journalists.

According to him, about 200 of them are kept in closed institutions.

«Employees of the State Penitentiary Service together with experts constantly work with the people convicted for extremism and terrorism. At the moment, four people have refused the banned ideology. The convicted for terrorism say in conversations with our employees that they abandon their ideology, but do not want to do this publicly. Perhaps, they are afraid of revenge on the part of other radical persons,» said Taalaibek Zhaparov.
