Jalal-Abad resident detained for plans to participate in war in Syria

A resident of Jalal-Abad city planned to participate in war in Syria. He was detained. Press center of the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan reported.

The 28-year-old supporter of international terrorist organizations left the Kyrgyz Republic in 2015 and attempted to move to Syria to participate in armed conflicts on the side of the international terrorist organizations.

A criminal case was initiated on the fact under Article 256 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic «Participation of a citizen of the Kyrgyz Republic in armed conflicts or hostilities on the territory of a foreign state or undergoing terrorist training.»

An unidentified automatic weapon (stylized as AK-74), 30 cartridges of 5.45 mm caliber, as well as religious literature (books-brochures) were found and confiscated during a search at the detainee’s place of residence and his car.

The detainee was placed in a pre-trial detention center, examinations were scheduled for the seized items.
