Fuel and lubricants may rise in price by 3-4 % after switch to higher class fuel

After the entry into force of the technical regulations on fuel quality, fuel and lubricants in Kyrgyzstan may rise in price by 3-4 percent. The Deputy Chairman of the State Committee for Industry, Energy and Subsoil Use, Alymbek Orozbekov, told journalists.

According to him, the current increase in fuel prices is associated with the growth in the wholesale prices at factories in Russia. At the same time, some suppliers have already started importing to Kyrgyzstan fuel of K-4 and K-5 class as it is required by the technical regulations of the Eurasian Economic Union.

«We can say that the current increase in fuel prices partially includes a rise in price due to the requirements of technical regulations. When they begin to operate on the territory of Kyrgyzstan, we do not expect a strong price increase. It will be within 3-4 percent. Preliminary negotiations with Kazakhstan are in progress. But there is no specifics so far. At the same time, it is worth remembering that Russia is our strategic partner in the supply of oil and light oil products,» Alymbek Orozbekov summed up.
