SDPK asks to protect Sapar Isakov from defamatory articles in the media

The Commission for Consideration of Complains against the Media will consider a complaint from SDPK party. The Social Democrats ask to protect the good name of the former Prime Minister Sapar Isakov from defamatory information posted in some mass media.

According to the head of the commission Shamaral Maychiev, SDPK cites as an example a publication in one of the Kyrgyz-language newspapers, which says that Sapar Isakov allegedly illegally cooperated with Gazprom Kyrgyzstan LLC. SDPK insists that the article violated all the requirements of the Code of Ethics for journalists of Kyrgyzstan.

The investigation, which is conducted by the State Committee for National Security, charged Sapar Isakov with corruption.

At least four criminal cases were initiated and seven former top managers of the energy sector were arrested, including the former head of the Energy Holding Aibek Kaliev and the former general director of Electric Stations OJSC Salaidin Avazov, within the criminal case on the breakdown and modernization of Bishkek HPP.

In addition, the former energy minister, incumbent deputy of the Parliament Osmonbek Artykbayev, another former head of the government Zhantoro Satybaldiev and ex-mayor of Bishkek Kubanychbek Kulmatov were arrested. All of them were charged with corruption.
