Kyrgyzstan reconstructs four checkpoints at border with Kazakhstan

Kyrgyzstan reconstructed several checkpoints at the border with Kazakhstan.

According to the Public Relations and Media Department of the State Border Service, the day before its Chairman Ularbek Sharsheev met with the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Kazakhstan to the Kyrgyz Republic Karim Kokrekbayev.

The parties discussed the improvement of the infrastructure of the checkpoints and bringing them in line with international standards within the framework of the integration of the Kyrgyz Republic into the Eurasian Economic Union.

The head of the border department said that the Kyrgyz side reconstructed four road posts: Tokmak, Ken Bulun, Ak-Tilek and Chaldybar.

The competent authorities of the two states are considering the issue of changing the status of Ken-Bulun and Tokmak automobile checkpoints from bilateral to international one. The Kyrgyz side also proposes to introduce the year-round operation of Karkyra-Avtodorozhniy checkpoint, which now operates from May until October.
