Sapar Isakov offers to review management of Kumtor Company

The existing management of Kumtor will be revised. Five departments that will manage the mine will be formed in the company. The Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Sapar Isakov, who was on the field on September 9, said.

According to the press service of the government, five directors of the newly created departments will be appointed from among the citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic.

Sapar Isakov inspected the workshop for the repair of heavy equipment, got acquainted with the work of quarries, visited a factory where ore processing and refining of gold is made, visited Petrov Lake and tailings.

«Today we went around the whole mine. My impressions of the work process are the most positive. After some criticism that was voiced by us, Centerra Gold Inc. began to bring everything in accordance with the norms. What hasn’t yet begun is at the stage of coordination with the relevant ministries and departments, research institutes. It’s about Petrov Lake, the condition of the dumps and tailings,» the head of government commented on his trip.

In his opinion, «we took the right path for the Kumtor mine.»

An appropriate agreement between the government of Kyrgyzstan and Centerra Gold Inc. will be signed in the near future. This is our first joint step to resolve the situation around Kumtor mine.
