Sadyr Japarov remains in custody

The court hearing of the case of former deputy of the parliament Sadyr Japarov rejected the petition of his lawyers to change the measure of restraint. The decision was made by Judge of Pervomaisky District Court Emilbek Kaiypov.

Lawyers representing the interests of the accused intend to appeal this decision to the Bishkek City Court within 10 days. However, the judge doesn’t consider it necessary to suspend the process. Lawyers claim violations and ask to give them the legal time to appeal.

Emilbek Kaiypov said that the court would continue on Friday, June 16, and added that until this day, lawyers should file a complaint about changing the measure to a higher authority under cassational procedure. «If before that day a document that the Bishkek City Court has accepted your complaint for consideration comes, the hearings will be suspended," Emilbek Kaiypov said.

Sadyr Japarov is charged with a number of articles of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic, in particular, hostage-taking and hooliganism. He was detained on March 25 on arrival in Kyrgyzstan and placed in pretrial detention center-1.
