Kyrgyzstan – important partner of EU in Central Asia

Kyrgyzstan is an important partner of the European Union in Central Asia, Deputy Secretary General for Political Affairs of the European External Action Service Jean-Christophe Belliard said at a meeting with the head of the presidential administration of Kyrgyzstan Sapar Isakov. The Information Support Department of the Presidential Administration reported.

According to it, the sides discussed topical issues of regional and bilateral cooperation with the European Union, the implementation of the agreements reached following the visit of the President Almazbek Atambayev on February 15–17, 2017 to the EU institutions.

Sapar Isakov expressed gratitude to the European Union for supporting the implementation of democratic reforms in the country. At the same time, he noted the need to implement projects on the rule of law, support for the education and development of rural regions, as well as to provide the rural population of Kyrgyzstan with clean drinking water. Sapar Isakov expressed hope for EU assistance in the implementation of the national program of digital transformation Taza Koom.

«The Kyrgyz Republic has made significant progress in democratic reforms and is a leader in building parliamentary democracy in Central Asia," Jean-Christophe Belliard said.
