8 million foreigners cross Kyrgyzstan’s border in 2016

In 2016, at least 8 million foreign citizens crossed the border of Kyrgyzstan. Deputy Director of the State Migration Service Almaz Asanbayev stated at the meeting of Onuguu-Progress parliamentary faction.

According to him, the Border Service informs that in 2016, Kyrgyz citizens crossed the border 5, 130, 579 times, and entered Kyrgyzstan 3, 634, 335 times.

«In 2016, at least 4, 410, 814 foreigners entered the country, and 4, 453,115 left it, that is, they crossed our border 8 million times," Almaz Asanbayev said.

According to him, citizens of Kazakhstan take the first place among the foreign citizens entering Kyrgyzstan. They are followed by citizens of Russia, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkey, China, Germany, the United States, South Korea, India and others.

«In 2016, at least 97, 864 foreigners were registered in Kyrgyzstan, for the first quarter of 2017 this figure was more than 14, 000," the Deputy Director of the Migration Service said.
