Tolkunbek Abdygulov: KGS demonstrates consistency, despite external influence

«The Kyrgyz som proved its consistency and stability, despite the external influence," the Chairman of the National Bank of Kyrgyzstan Tolkunbek Abdygulov said at the conference «Formation and development of the banking system of Kyrgyzstan: challenges and solutions.»

According to him, in 2016 KGS has depreciated by 29 percent. At the same time, the currencies of other countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (ЕEU) have fallen in price much more — up to 86 percent.

«Now Kyrgyzstan is at the stage of structural adaptation in the framework of accession to the EEU. We left the group of low-income countries. The national currency of Kyrgyzstan is now one of the most stable in the territory of the post-Soviet countries. But we still have challenges," Tolkunbek Abdygulov said.

He told that as of today the country’s gold and currency reserve is almost $ 2 billion.
